Who We Are

Roots ‘n Reading serves families at two Project for Pride in Living community garden sites in Saint Paul. The program combines gardening and nutrition education, literacy programming, and community civic engagement.

Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is an nonprofit agency working with lower-income individuals and families throughout the Twin Cities metro area to achieve greater self-sufficiency through housing, employment, training, education, and support services. Please visit the organization’s home page for more information.

PPL’s Self-Sufficiency Program (SSP) assists participants and residents of PPL affordable rental housing by connecting them to important life-skill and educational resources and other PPL programs. Professional services aimed at helping people remain in stable housing are also available. SSP Service Coordinators and Community Organizers work in north Minneapolis, south Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, New Hope, Robbinsdale and Saint Paul.

PPL Youth Development programs assist lower-income children and youth in building the developmental assets they need to thrive and realize their full potential. After-school, daytime, and summer activities provide intensive academic support, an encouraging environment and positive, enriching experiences. They are offered at multiple PPL locations throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.
